It's that time of year when I start to write lists, lots of lists! Along with the food shopping list, which I inevitably leave on the kitchen unit, I will write a list of gift ideas and a budget for each person and then it's off to hunt for that special gift which I hope will be a little different, a little special and definitely created by a local artist and/or purchased from a small independent business. Yes I do make some of my gifts but I also like the opportunity to support another business and artist plus I love visiting other studios, galleries and markets!
So with this in mind I thought I'd share some of the lovely gift ideas I have here in the studio, some are made by me and some are made by the lovely guest artists currently displaying their work here in, 'The Old Forge Studio'.
Stocking Fillers and GiftsUnder £20
There has been a tradition in my house since our sons were born of buying a new Christmas tree decoration each year. Our reason for this is, one day when they fly the nest we will divide all the decorations between them and they will be able to remember all the wonderful Christmas days we spent as a family when they were growing up. My Christmas baubles are made with this in mind. The Robin to remember those that are no longer with us, the family of Robins to represent all the children and grandchildren that make Christmas so special and this year I've added those 'Nearly Home Trees', family and friends pass as they travel home for Christmas.
David Perry's popular coasters make fun stocking fillers or the perfect gift for the teacher's cup of coffee!
There's nothing quite like Christmas to bring out the romantic! These little 16 x 16 CM framed pieces are made with love and are just perfect as a little way of saying I love you at Christmas.

Pebble people and dogs are one of my most popular designs and commissions with little details that make them that bit more personal.
